UKG (5yrs+)

The Upper Kindergarten program provides a broad range of learning experiences across core areas.

In English Language Arts, children develop print awareness, phonemic skills, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading and early writing. They explore stories, rhymes, conversations and begin writing for various purposes using letters, words and simple sentences.

In Mathematics, children identify numbers up to 100, count by 2s, 5s, and 10s, and solve basic addition and subtraction problems. They study place value, patterns, measurement, graphing and two- and three-dimensional shapes.

Science activities include observations, comparisons, simple investigations, nature study, weather tracking and data collection.

Social Studies focuses on understanding roles, routines, rules and responsibilities within the classroom, home and community. Children also explore cultural traditions and learn about health and safety.
